A kitchen garden

A kitchen garden

This long thin space was always a challenge, and coming up with a novel and interesting use for it was a fun task to complete. Echoing ideas from traditional kitchen gardens to influence the raised herb planters, using clay pavers for create the winding path, and a cosy swing seat landing spot at the end of the garden, this exciting space now is a destination in the garden. Walking through the different zones is a pleasure as you discover the next treat awaiting you. As a listed property, it was really important to be compassionate to the surrounding of the garden so it nestles in and feels like part of the bigger plot. The raised bed walls are a particular favourite, using a traditional material laid in a novel way to mimic the layout of box hedging in classic English gardens.
